Visit with Galina & Tatiana

Lena visited Tania L. (her formal name is Tatiana) and Galina L. (Tania’s mother). Galina is 83 years old, and she became a member of our program a long time ago. When she became too weak to carry her food packages, she asked Tania to help her. So Tania started attending Bible lessons with her mother. Along with helping her mother, Tania became an “emergency” Stephen Minister—she helped deliver food packages to homebound widows when their regular Stephen Minister was unavailable.

Galina and Tania live in different parts of Kyiv, so we accepted Tania into the program as well. Since Galina is a homebound widow, Tania is her Stephen Minister.

Galina lives in the remote part of Kyiv, and you cannot seem to visit her without Tania being there as well. So because of distance and time factors, Lena visited Tania to give her a gift from her sponsors and visit with Galina.

Galina was born in Kyiv, and her father was a prominent Gypsy in the city, so Galina is (and was in our church) quite a singer. When Galina grew up, she married and gave birth to Tania (who is 61 years old now) and Tania's younger brother (who died 12 years ago). When Galina was pregnant with twins, she worked at the big local factory. One day before maternity leave, she had to test new equipment at the factory. A huge part of the machine cut off Galina’s hand by accident, and the doctors could not save her twins. According to Tania, Galina's life has not been easy, and she became a widow in her 60s. It was in St. Paul's Church (back then, it was called Holy Trinity) when she found God's peace and experienced His love.

Tania has no kids of her own. When she was 20 years old, she married a man with a two-week-old boy, and Tania adopted him. When the kid became older, his drinking biological mother had a bad influence on him, and the kid’s father (who is a gifted photographer) spent most of his life in prison. It breaks Tania's heart.

For 26 years, she worked at the Aviation University as a secretary. Later, she became paralyzed, and the doctors could not diagnose her. She spent eight months in a hospital bed and after she was taken home, she was completely healed within an hour.

Would you pray for Galina, and Tania as she cares for her mother?
