Remembering Four Years of War, Four Years of Faith
This month marks four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine—a day that shattered peace, separated families, and unleashed suffering on a scale few could have imagined possible in modern Europe. The first blog update on February 22, 2022, feels like a distant memory. What began then has become a long and painful season of grief, sacrifice, and endurance for millions. Cities have been bombed. Homes have been destroyed. Lives have been permanently changed. Yet even in the midst of devastation, another reality has become clear: God’s sustaining provision and unwavering faithfulness.
Scripture reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Over these four years, we have seen this truth lived out again and again. When power grids failed and winter temperatures fell below freezing, warmth was provided. When food supplies were uncertain, meals arrived. When fear and trauma overwhelmed hearts, comfort came through prayer, community, and the presence of Christ. Time after time, God has supplied what was needed—often through the generosity and faithfulness of partners like you.
In Kyiv and throughout the country, believers continue to serve courageously despite air raid sirens and constant uncertainty. Churches remain open. Worship continues. Sacrificial giving persists. Aid is distributed. Hope is proclaimed. The war has not destroyed faith; if anything, it has refined and strengthened it.
As we mark this solemn anniversary, we do so with both sorrow and confidence—sorrow for the immense loss, and confidence in God’s sovereignty. He sees every tear, knows every need, and promises never to abandon His people. Your prayers, compassion, and support are tangible expressions of His care and provision.
We see the words of 2 Corinthians 4: 7-8 reflected in the lives of the men, women, and children of Ukraine. “We are experiencing all kinds of trouble, but we aren’t crushed. We are confused, but we aren’t depressed. We are harassed, but we aren’t abandoned. We are knocked down, but we aren’t knocked out.” This perseverance is a living testimony to the sustaining faith and hope found only in Jesus Christ.
Thank you for standing with Ukraine. Together, we trust that the same God who has carried His people through these four years will continue to lead them toward restoration, peace, and renewed hope.
