Rebuilding Hope on Two Wheels: Life-Saving Work from a Kyiv Workshop

Tucked away in the industrial outskirts of Kyiv, a small mechanic’s shop is doing extraordinary work. Led by our friend Pavlo and his team of dedicated volunteers, this humble garage has become a lifeline – transforming old motorcycles into agile evacuation vehicles capable of reaching the wounded where ambulances or armored transports can’t.

Music Mission Kiev (MMK) is honored to partner with Pavlo in this life-saving mission. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we’re able to supply new engines and essential resources to completely rebuild these motorcycles. Every “donor bike” goes through a full overhaul—engines replaced, frames reinforced, and stretchers securely mounted. These aren’t just repairs, they’re complete rebirths. Every motorcycle that leaves Pavlo’s shop has the potential to save a life on the battlefield.

Pavlo understands the urgency of this work firsthand on a deeply personal level. A combat veteran himself, he bears both physical scars and the emotional toll of war. Despite fatigue and the weight of daily struggles, he presses on, supported by his wife and four children. He shares that sometimes he dreams of a day when motorcycles will be for travel and adventure again, not war. But until that day, each and every rebuilt motorcycle is a chance to save someone’s life.

Even amid war, hope finds its way. Ukraine’s biker festivals, once silenced by invasion, have returned with a renewed purpose. No longer just gatherings for enthusiasts, they now raise funds, showcase these transformed motorcycles, and lift the spirits of those serving on the front lines. At each event, MMK chaplain Serhiy B. offers blessings over the bikes and prays for the soldiers who will ride them. “Blessing is not magic,” he reminds the bikers. “It’s a prayer—for God to be close to the one who rides.” A powerful symbol of hope for many.

Because of MMK’s faithful supporters, engines keep turning, bikes keep rolling out, and lives continue to be saved. Together, we are standing with Ukraine—not only meeting urgent physical needs, but also delivering spiritual encouragement in the places where it’s most desperately needed.
