Military Widow Viola Y.

Viola recently joined our military widow gatherings. Sometimes she also participates in our Sunday readings of the Word. However, Oksana has not met her in person before.

Over a cup of tea, Oksana and Viola met and got to know each other. It didn’t take long for Oksana to learn about the difficulty she’s had in life.

Viola is originally from Luhansk in Eastern Ukraine. When ware broke out in the east, she fled the city. Viola struggled to find a place to live because she had a large family with a disabled bed-ridden child.

Viola and her husband Timur had two children together. There were children from their first marriages as well, a disabled Viola’s son and two of Timur’s half-orphan children.

Thankfully some kind people sheltered them in Kharkiv. The woman who helped them was like a mother to Viola. Timur went to war and was missing in action in 2014. Viola searched for him for nine long months, and finally, identified his body with the help of the DNA analysis.

So Voila was left homeless, a widow with 5 children, one of whom is a life-long disabled son. His name is Vladyk, and he can only eat strained food. He has to wear diapers all the time and requires constant attention.

Recently, Viola had to carry Vladyk to a rehabilitation clinic. As a result, she threw out her back and could not move for about two weeks up until recently.

Viola can’t find a job as she has to take care of Vladyk. But she is thankful for God and the opportunity to look after him and her children and for all the kind people she can lean on. We hope to keep in touch and support this family, too.

Please pray for the Lord’s guidance in Viola’s life and for her to know Him better. Please also pray for the restoration of her health and strength.
