Realizing that music has a profound effect on the hearts of people, the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus proclaims the love of Christ and truths of the Scripture through great Christian classics in its concerts. This is the conerstone of this mission and the vehicle that has uniquely openned up so many doors to us.

This group began in 1992 when Roger and Diane McMurrin were invited by an Episcopal priest to come to Kiev, Ukraine, to perform Handel's Messiah. Roger hired 35 Ukrainian professional singers and a local orchestra to premier this work, which had been prohibited by the Communists for seventy years.

The concert hall was overflowing with people that night, and the enthusiastic audience experienced "an explosion of Light" as their souls were touched by a glimpse of God's glory. Audience attenders came up to Roger after the concert saying "you have to tell us more about this Jesus..." This left a lasting impression on the McMurrins and shortly afterwards they felt the call to leave their life in America, and move to this former Soviet country to continue their ministry to the people of Ukraine.

Since their return in 1993, the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus has premiered over 82 Christian classics, many of which have been aired on radio and television across Ukraine. On eight tours of the United States, the KSOC has introduced Americans to Ukraine and the extensive ministries of Music Mission Kiev.

Their loyal audiences in Kiev are glad to see the return of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus as they miss the extraordinary concerts so popular in their city.

Music communicates what cannot be said in words. It creates an environment that moves the spirit and promotes one to asks questions that would otherwise be silent. Music Mission Kiev is first and foremost "Music with a Mission".
